Welcome!

I am a political scientist conducting research on the ways people engage with politics and government, and how to improve the quality of that engagement. I study American political communication, focusing on deliberation, political discussion, and political psychology. I have additional research interests in state and local politics, and women and politics. I also study political methodology, with my experience and training focused on experiments and social network analysis. My work has been published in the American Journal of Political Science, the Journal of Experimental Political Science, and PS: Political Science and Politics.

I am an assistant professor of political science at The University of Oklahoma where I teach courses on American politics. In my role, I help organize initiatives aimed at providing students with practical experiences within government and building community among OU political science students. Previously, I was an assistant professor of political science at The University of Nevada, Reno.

I am a Faculty Fellow with The Educational Network for Active Civic Transformation (ENACT). In this role, I teach students how to effectively lobby their state legislators on policies currently under consideration.

I am Emeritus Organizer of the Junior Americanist Workshop Series (JAWS). This virtual workshop, which began during the COVID-19 pandemic, provides junior scholars of American politics an opportunity to receive feedback on their work from top scholars in their fields.
